Man from out of state facing felony burglary charges in town of Forestport

FORESTPORT- A suspect from out of state is in custody on arrest warrants and is faced with charges tracing back to a local burglary late last month in Northern Oneida County.

On August 27, the Sheriff’s Office began investigating a burglary complaint on the North Lake Road in the town of Forestport.

Investigators learned a male subject was spotted in the vicinity of the residence.

It was quickly discovered that the subject was wearing clothing that was soon reported missing from inside the residence.

Police said they found some information from inside the home that identified the suspect as Gary Black, 56, of Oklahoma.

For context, Black was recently arrested by the Sheriff’s Office for an unrelated incident.

Word had gotten back to Sheriff’s Investigators that Black had been looking to flee the area and State Police officials soon reported his possible whereabouts near the Capital Region in Albany, NY only two days following the burglary complaint.

An arrest warrant was issued for Black in the town of Forestport and come September 20, authorities in Long Island had intercepted Black.

He was brought back to the Oneida County Jail on the arrest warrant in Forestport. It is reported that Black also had an arrest warrant out from the town of Florence.

At press time, authorities said that Black was being held on felony charges of burglary in the second and third-degrees, along with misdemeanor petit larceny.
