Menacing case in Newport results in arrest of local resident, Troopers say

NEWPORT- A local resident is faced with numerous charges in the wake of a menacing complaint this week in Herkimer County, authorities say.

Brian K. Jones, 53, of Newport, NY was arrested Wednesday afternoon by the New York State Police (Herkimer).

Jones is formally charged with one misdemeanor count of menacing in the second-degree; along with one misdemeanor count each of criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs (first offense).

According to Troopers, the arrest stems from a menacing complaint, which was filed in the town of Newport.

At press time, police said an investigation was pending.

Meanwhile, Jones was issued with an appearance ticket and there were no further details provided.
