Moose Snowmobile Trail Reports for Friday, January 2, 2026

Published on January 02, 2026

Missing Link January 2 2025

Lake effect snow… mysterious, yet nearly impossible to fully predict where the bulls-eye will be.

One minor shift with the winds and you could have feet of snow in one place, while inches only miles away.

Over the last week, the National Weather Service had several bulletins that were issued for the entire Central New York and North Country regions.

Yes, there was snowfall, but the vast majority of accumulation occurred on the western side of Tug Hill and along the shorelines of Lake Ontario.

Specifically, Oswego County was the winner for this latest blitz. Here on our side of the Tug Hill Plateau, there was snow accumulation, but nothing compared to select areas west of here.

Regardless, grooming fleets have been out and sled traffic has been steady. Here are some of the latest trail reports we’ve gathered from around the local area:

NOTE: Conditions are likely and do tend to change on a moment’s notice. Be sure to keep checking our website for any updates (you can also check in with your favorite snowmobile clubs for more in-depth details).

Barnes Corners Sno-Pals: Trails are open and groomers have been going out.

Brantingham Snowmobile Club: Lower trails have been groomed; Mountain Tom Trail remains CLOSED.

Long Pond Sno Sled Club: Trails are open and groomers will be out.

Lost Trail Snowmobile Club: All trails groomed as of Thursday; watch for wet spots.

Missing Link Snowmobile Club: Minimal base reported between Maples and Copenhagen.

Osceola Snowmobile Association: Northern trails were groomed Tuesday night (partial groom on Southern end).

Ohio Ridge Riders: Groomers went out earlier this week.

Old Forge/Town of Webb: Good conditions reported, with appx. 7-inches of base.

Penn Mountain Snow Riders: Trails have opened (watch for certain closures and water hazards).

Southern Tug Hill Sno-Riders: Groomers have been out and trails are good.

Trackside Blazers: Groomers will be out over the weekend.

Turin Ridge Riders: Upper and lower trails are fully open.

Valley Snow Travelers: Groomers worked the Tug Hill trails on Thursday.

NOTICE: Local law enforcement and snowmobile club officials are warning all riders to obey any and all rules and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to: respecting closed trails and staying off from private property. Police warn to never snowmobile while intoxicated or under the influence of any substance. Watch your speeds and remember to look out for and give right-of-way to groomers on the trails.
