Moose Snowmobile Trail Reports for Thursday, March 2, 2023

It appears (for now) that Old Man Winter has woken up from his mid-winter slumber.

As we charge into March, it appears things are finally heading in more of a confident direction. After weeks of hardly having any trails available to ride on, more and more clubs are starting to report better conditions in the wake of some fresh snowfall over the last several days.

According to the National Weather Service, another winter storm system looks to be on track starting Friday night and into Saturday.

Here are the latest updates we’ve gathered:

NOTE: Conditions are likely and do tend to change on a moment’s notice. Be sure to keep checking our website for any updates.

Barnes Corners Sno-Pals: Grooming is expected to continue on Copenhagen, Worth and Montague Trails. 

Brantingham Snowmobile Club: Trails are open; good to excellent conditions are reported. 

Long Pond Sno Sled Club: Trails are open; some thin and icy conditions were reported over the weekend.

Lost Trail Snowmobile Club: “Great” conditions reported; grooming crews have been out. 

Missing Link Snowmobile Club: Poor to fair and “passable” conditions reported.  

Osceola Snowmobile Association: Good conditions reported; grooming has resumed on lower trails.

Ohio Ridge Riders: Most open trails are groomed; decent conditions reported.   

Old Forge/Town of Webb: Fair to good conditions; 2-inches of new snow; 7-inches of packed base.

Penn Mountain Snow Riders: Grooming crews rolled Tuesday night; decent conditions reported, with some wet spots. 

Southern Tug Hill Sno-Riders: Grooming is expected this week; good snow coverage and trail conditions.

Trackside Blazers: Trails from Alder Creek to White Lake groomed Tuesday night; S71 to C4H groomed as well. 

Turin Ridge Riders: Groomers have been on the Tug Hill Trails and lower trails; conditions range from smooth to bumpy.

Valley Snow Travelers: All Tug Hill Trails groomed Wednesday night; trails to Lowville and Maples are thinner.

NOTICE: Local law enforcement and snowmobile club officials are warning all riders to obey any and all rules and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to: respecting closed trails and staying off from private property. Police warn to never snowmobile while intoxicated or under the influence of any substance. Watch your speeds and remember to look out for and give right-of-way to groomers on the trails.
