Boonville Snow Festival II

BOONVILLE- It’s been a rough go for the Boonville Snow Festival II committee after shutting down amidst COVID in 2021 and cancelling last-year’s racing action due to border restrictions with Canada.

The good news right now: Canadian border restrictions for COVID have eased tremendously and the Snow Fest committee is eyeing the weekend of February 3-5, 2023 for exciting high-speed snowmobile sled racing action.

However, the bad news is if there no new committee members and volunteers who join soon, festival spokesperson Susan Alger tells us the board is seriously considering the viability of hosting ice-oval racing.

In other words, if no one else steps up to help out, the event will face cancellation.

"We need several committed volunteers to assist before, during, and after the event with a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to shoveling bleachers, handling hay bales, parking, ticket sales, garbage collection, and runners," Alger said.

"We truly can not hold the event without community and volunteer support."

For those who may be interested in joining, there will be a public informational meeting Wednesday, October 12 at the Boonville Village Offices, 13149 State Route 12. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Stay tuned, we’ll have an on-air segment featuring more details with Susan Alger coming up soon.
