Multiple fire departments respond to structure fire in Remsen

REMSEN- Numerous fire departments were called to the scene of what’s been reported as a fully involved structure fire Monday night in Oneida County, authorities say.

Alarms sounded shortly before 8:30 p.m. as Oneida County 9-1-1 Dispatch received calls for help from 9431 Fairview Lane, near Remsen, NY.

Remsen was the primary department on scene, with Barneveld, Forestport, Floyd, Holland Patent, Poland and Newport Fire Departments all providing assistance.

According to Remsen Fire Chief Bob Eaton, the two-story log cabin is a total loss. No official cause was declared as of press time, as State Fire Investigators continue looking for answers.

Chief Eaton did mention this blaze appears to have sparked somewhere in the garage area, which was attached to the cabin.

Emergency dispatch reports one patient was transported by STaR Ambulance for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
