ALBANY, NY- A bill has been introduced to the New York State Legislature that would ultimately welcome the return of some 2,000 prison guards, who were terminated for participating in a wildcat strike and refusing the final terms brought to the table.
The proposed measure has been announced from the office of Senator Dan Stec.

“The 2,000 correction officers who were fired are being punished for simply speaking out against unsafe working conditions,” the Senator said.
For context, the statewide strikes, in which several hundred prison guards participated, was condemned as illegal by Governor Kathy Hochul – a direct violation of the state’s Taylor Law, she explained.
If passed in both chambers and signed by the Governor, every correctional officer who was terminated would be allowed to return to their post, without penalty.
