ALBANY, NY- In order for you to legally carry a firearm into a New York business, the owner will need to have established a sign that implies that guns are welcome.

This motion, according to the Associated Press, is what state leaders have come up with in response to the latest U.S. Supreme Court ruling, which slaps down New York’s handgun licensing law.

Governor Hochul implied Wednesday that she and the Democratically controlled legislature gave approval to pass a wide measure of new provisions. The Governor has mentioned concerns that the Supreme Court ruling would likely result in more guns ending up in public places.

Lawmakers have also included initiatives that will present more difficulty for New Yorkers wishing to apply to legally carry a firearm outside of their home, while also marking more rules for gun storage.

This development is in the wake of Hochul’s recent notice for an emergency legislative session to address the court ruling.
