ALBANY, NY- Governor Kathy Hochul announced towards the end of last-week an agreement on New York’s’ Fiscal Year 2024 State Budget, which was supposed to be finalized by April 1.

Following on the heels of the Governor’s declaration, State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins says budget bill voting should be finished Tuesday.

This development is according to the Associated Press.

At the latest tune of $229 billion, the budget, now a month late, is aimed to raise the minimum wage, while also cracking down on illicit weed shops and banning gas stoves/furnaces from new buildings.

The process was held up over bail reform changes and housing initiatives. Although adjustments to bail reform were negotiated in, the plans to create some 800,000 new homes statewide crumbled at the finish line.
