State Police and local law enforcement will be out in force through Labor Day weekend as part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to prevent drugged and drunk driving.

The national enforcement period started on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025.

“Our goal during this campaign is to ensure we can take intoxicated and drug impaired drivers off our road and prevent senseless tragedies,” said New York State Police Superintendent Steven G. James.

During last-year’s enforcement blitz, Troopers wrote over 10,000 tickets and arrested over 230 people for intoxicated driving.

During this year’s crackdown, drivers can expect to see increased patrols, sobriety checkpoints and undercover patrol units.

This initiative is partially funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC).
