No foul play suspected in Cindy’s Diner explosion

ONEIDA COUNTY- There is no foul or suspicious play suspected in the explosion Friday night that reduced a locally renowned establishment to smithereens in Oneida County.

This update is according to the Barneveld Fire Department. They were the primary department on-scene shortly after 8:00 p.m. Friday when Cindy’s Diner suddenly and violently exploded, leaving a trail of debris scattered across Route 12.

The roadway was shut-down for a time while emergency responders worked the scene.

The locally renowned diner has been a familiar spot to grab a quick bite to eat, located between the villages of Barneveld and Remsen.

Fortunately, the Barneveld Fire Department has confirmed no one was inside when the explosion occurred and there have been no subsequent injuries.

Firefighters managed to bring the bulk of the blaze under control within a half-hour of arriving.
