ONEIDA COUNTY- State Route 28 has re-opened in the wake of a bus crash Friday afternoon in the very western edge of the Adirondacks.
It happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. 9-1-1 dispatch received numerous reports regarding a bus that had crashed into a house and rolled over.
Otter Lake Fire Department was the primary responder.
According to officials, the driver somehow managed to escape the wreckage without any major injuries. Members from Old Forge Ambulance evaluated the driver before being released from the scene.
Fortunately, there were no passengers aboard when the wreck occurred.
At press time, Otter Lake Fire Department did not specify whether or not there were any people injured in the house.
Emergency officials determined that the bus somehow went off the south side of the roadway before striking the house.
Furthermore, the bus took down a utility pole and managed to roll over on to a pair of propane tanks.
A portion of State Route 28 was shut down while emergency responders cleared the scene.
Emergency responders did not specify where the bus was from, but it appears that it was not correlated to any of our North Country school districts.
Members from Woodgate Fire Department, NYSP, NYS DOT, National Grid and Mikes Heavy Rescue and Towing all assisted.
