Non-life threatening injuries reported after snowmobiler was ejected from sled near Ava

AVA- A snowmobiler was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries after being ejected from their snowmobile in Oneida County.

It was shortly before 1:45 p.m. Thursday when emergency responders were called out to reports of a snowmobile accident on the Sheehan Road, town of Ava.

Investigation via the Sheriff’s Office suggests that Karen Wickert, 62, of Oneida, NY was operating a 2019 Polaris snowmobile in a southerly direction.

When she attempted to climb up a snowbank, deputies say that Wickert was ejected from the sled. Members from West Leyden Ambulance transported Wickert to Rome Memorial Hospital for what was described as non-life threatening injuries.

Members from West Leyden Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance also assisted.
