DIANA- A North Country man is faced with charges stemming from an alleged hit-an-run accident in Lewis County, authorities say.

Justin H. Whitmarsh, 33, of Edwards, NY was arrested Thursday morning by the New York State Police (Star Lake). He is officially charged with one misdemeanor count each of reckless endangerment in the second-degree, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third-degree and using a vehicle without an interlock device.

According to Troopers, these charges stem from complaints of a hit-and-run, which were reported earlier that morning in the town of Diana.

At press time, police said an investigation is pending. Whitmarsh's arrest status was listed as held.

Police did not provide any further details regarding the incident.
