North Country resident allegedly violated court order by sending over two-dozen text messages to protected party, police say

LOWVILLE- A North Country resident is accused of violating a court order by reaching out to a protected person.

William M. Barringer, 56, of Watertown, NY was arrested on Monday afternoon by the Lowville Village Police on a charge of criminal contempt in the second-degree. 

According to Chief of Police Daryl R. Ortlieb, Barringer is accused of sending 31 text-messages to a person under a Lewis County Family Court issued protection order.

At press time, police said that Barringer was arraigned and remanded to the Lewis County Jail on an unspecified cash bail.
