North Country resident charged for alleged impaired driving, criminally possessing controlled substance

LERAY- A traffic stop this week in Jefferson County has resulted in charges filed against a North Country area resident.

Alexis Rose Smith, 26, of Carthage, NY was arrested on Thursday afternoon by the New York State Police (Watertown) for counts of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree.

Troopers said these charges were filed shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the town of LeRay.

At press time, authorities said that Smith was issued with an appearance ticket.

There were no further details provided.
