JEFFERSON, LEWIS & OSWEGO COUNTIES: WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 P.M. THURSDAY AFTERNOON TO 10 A.M. EST FRIDAY.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 11 inches across the higher terrain of the Tug Hill Plateau, with 4 to 7 inches for surrounding lower elevations. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph near Lake Ontario, resulting in blowing snow.

* WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. The greatest accumulations will likely be confined to the Tug Hill Plateau, with lower amounts in the surrounding lower elevations.

* WHEN...From 3 P.M. Thursday afternoon to 10 A.M. EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be extremely difficult at times, including portions of Interstate 81. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches or result in isolated power outages.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Widespread accumulating snow will create dangerous travel conditions. Submit snow reports through our website or social media.

 

NORTHERN ONEIDA COUNTY: WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THURSDAY AFTERNOON TO NOON EST FRIDAY.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...Northern Oneida county.

* WHEN...From 3 P.M. Thursday afternoon to noon EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening or Friday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The highest snow totals are expected across the higher elevations of the northern portion of the county.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...Northern Herkimer and Hamilton Counties.

* WHEN...From 1 P.M. Thursday afternoon to 1 P.M. EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult due to snow and blowing snow. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening or Friday morning commutes. Gusty winds may cause isolated power outages from downed trees and wires.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates could approach an inch an hour briefly Thursday night into Friday morning.
