WATERTOWN- A North Country resident is faced with numerous charges, including a list of felonies, following a burglary investigation last fall in Jefferson County.

Joshua E. Constance, 39, of Carthage, NY was arrested on Thursday afternoon by the New York State Police (Watertown). Constance currently faces five felony charges, including one count of criminally possessing a weapon in the second-degree and four counts of burglary in the third-degree.

Constance is also charged with one misdemeanor of possessing burglar tools.

Troopers say the arrest stems from a burglary complaint in the town of Watertown, which was filed last October.

In a separate update from the Carthage Village Police, Constance had active arrest warrants for criminally possessing a weapon and stolen property. Carthage Police says that they received a tip on Thursday suggesting that Constance may have been hiding out in the village at a residence on Norris Ave.

Constance was ultimately located hiding inside of a closet when police searched the property.

At press time, State Police said that an investigation was pending, while Constance made an appearance for centralized arraignment. Meanwhile, Carthage Village Police said that Constance was remanded to the Jefferson County Jail, without bail.

There were no further details provided.
