NYSP warns of latest scams amidst holiday season

NYSP Scam

The New York State Police is investigating complaints of scammers, where victims are being persuaded that money was accidently deposited into their bank account, or they have unauthorized charges.

These scammers will send a link to gain access of your computer to manipulate and receive funds from your bank account, according to the State Police.

If you believe to have fallen victim to this scam or something similar, authorities urge that you contact your financial institution directly and call the New York State Police.

If you are contacted by someone who instructs you to withdraw money from your bank so they can come pick it up, this is also a scam, officials warn.

State Police authorities advise to NOT withdraw money or turn over any funds.

If someone contacts you on the phone or your computer requesting you withdraw money to be turned over to them, contact the State Police immediately.
