LOWVILLE- On Monday, December 15, 2025, Lewis County Manager, Timothy Hunt, joined North Country News and continued our discussion focusing on the 2026 budget process.
Specifically, the County Manager discussed weighing out the options of hiring an additional DMV staff member at the Lowville office, while at the same time eliminating the security position.
For context, the county added a security guard to man the Lowville DMV during the peak and early aftermath of the COVID pandemic because it was a time where customers dealt with all sorts of pandemic related modifications and people were getting upset with staff members.
However, the County Manager says we are past that and adding another staff member to streamline DMV services would be more beneficial for customers.
