LOWVILLE- On Friday, December 12, 2025, Lowville Fire Chief, Joe Austin, joined North Country News and discussed heating appliance safety.

Amidst this latest cold snap, there have been numerous fires that have sparked as a result, as the fire chief says that very often times is the case.

Specifically, Chief Austin iterated the importance for folks to make sure their chimneys have been inspected and their smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are functioning properly.
