'RecruitNY' weekend is April 26 -27, 2025, where volunteer fire departments statewide host a series of open houses for community member to attend, with hopes sparking a flame within someone to join their local fire department.

In one of our latest featured on-air segments, Woodgate Fire Chief Anthony Sege joined North Country News and discussed what it takes to become a volunteer firefighter and the importance for every community to have a strong membership roster with their fire department.
