One person deceased, another person burned in Rome fire

ROME- A structure fire over the weekend resulted in one death and another person suffering from burns.

It happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. Saturday at 8434 Dawn Drive. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a structure fire, with reports of at-least one person still inside.

Sheriff’s Deputies ended up locating an injured adult male, who was suffering from burns to his hands, face and other parts of his body.

Crews from AmCare Ambulance immediately rushed them to SUNY Upstate for treatment.

Once the flames were knocked down, police located a second person inside the home, who was deceased.

At press time, the victim’s name was not available, but investigators are expecting to follow up with another report.

Firefighters from Rome and Lake Delta responded.
