
ONEIDA COUNTY- An Oneida County Jail inmate, who is from the local area, is accused of a felony assault charge for allegedly inuring a correctional officer.
Members from the Sheriff’s Office investigated an incident at the county correctional facility last Tuesday, where Ethan Adsit, 24, who is listed from Lee Center, NY, was subsequently arrested and charged with felony assault in the second-degree.
According to witness testimony, the incident occurred during morning meal service. It is alleged that while a corrections officer offered Adsit his breakfast tray, he kicked the cell door open, which struck the officer.
Police say that Adsit continued his assault against the officer by punching them in the head several times, with a closed fist.
The officer was taken to an area hospital with what was described as a closed head injury.
At press time on Friday, authorities said that Adsit remained in the correctional facility.
