ROME- A pair are faced with felony drug possession charges, following a meth bust this week in Oneida County.
As of this report, one of them is still at large after managing to flee while appearing for court.
Mandi L. Gillett, 34, and Kyle A. White, 37, are both charged with A-II felony counts of criminally possessing a controlled substance in the second-degree, according to Rome City Police.
In addition, Gillett was charged with criminally possessing a controlled substance in the third-degree.
These charges stem from a traffic stop in the 200 block of Erie Boulevard shortly after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Police said Gillett was driving a 2007 Dodge Dakota, while White was a passenger.
The traffic stop led to the execution of three search warrants, where police reportedly unveiled nearly 81-grams of meth, along with 47 glassine envelopes containing fentanyl; another 2.3 grams of separately packaged fentanyl; three digital scales; packaging materials and over $1,000 in cash.
Police said both suspects sent to Oneida County Centralized Arraignment, where they were released.
They appeared in Rome City Court Wednesday for arraignment, but when authorities moved to place White into custody, it’s reported that he successfully fled and is still at large.
Gillett was taken into custody without incident.
