ORISKANY- Inmates of Oneida County’s Correctional Facility now have further access to medical and dental care.
On Tuesday, the county and Sheriff’s Office announced a partnership with Wellpath, a healthcare provider responsible for over 300,000 patients in nearly 600 facilities nationwide.
“We are excited to unite with Wellpath and look forward to many new opportunities to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the individuals in custody at the Oneida County Jail which will now include tele-health services along with digitizing our medical records,” said Sheriff Maciol.
The three-year agreement, at a cost of $4,058,994 annually, began on January 1, 2023 and will provide medical and dental healthcare services to the Oneida County Jail.
“Wellpath is excited about this new opportunity, which is grounded in our legacy of providing compassionate and excellent healthcare to every individual,” said Senior Vice President Zela Guirola. “At Wellpath, we take pride in providing hope and healing by improving health and transforming the lives of our patients,” she said.
Wellpath was chosen after a lengthy review of five companies that bid on the request for proposal that was sent out in 2022 and was approved by the Oneida County Board of Legislators and signed by Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente near the end of last year.
