WASHINGTON, D.C.- “No one… no one in this body has worked harder for this Republican Majority than Kevin McCarthy,” said North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21) Tuesday.

She took the floor nominating McCarthy, a GOP California legislator, to become the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. “Kevin McCarthy is a strong conservative, he is proudly pro-life, a supporter of our Second Amendment rights, and he is committed to stopping wasteful government spending and shrinking the size of government,” Stefanik added.

As of this report, the GOP led House has yet to secure a new Speaker and until that happens, everything for them remains in limbo.

For the first time in a century, the House has failed to select their speaker with just one ballot.

Despite a disappointing turnout for Republicans in the 2022 mid-terms, they still managed to claim a slim 222-212 House majority.

In the Senate, Democrats managed to hold on to their majority, but by the skin of their teeth: 51-49.
