ONEIDA COUNTY- A search warrant executed by authorities this week at a local establishment in Stittville, NY resulted in the discovery of illegal substances.

In partnership with the Oneida County Health Department, New York State Office of Cannabis Management, and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Investigators searched “One Dream” Kratom Store & Truck Stop on Wednesday.

It is reported that the search was executed after authorities were tipped off to the possibility of illegal cannabis sales and possession.

As a result of the investigation, authorities seized approximately 94-grams of cannabis flour; approximately 320-grams of cannabis edibles and approximately 96-grams of THC vapes.

Police said they also discovered assorted illegal fireworks.

The Oneida County Health Department seized a quantity of Kratom products and a large quantity of flavored vape products.

The sale of flavored vapor products is prohibited in New York State under Public Health Law. Fines and or arrests are pending at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

“The seizure of unregulated cannabis products, including edibles and THC vapes, underscores why enforcement is a critical part of protecting public health,” said Daniel Haughney, Chief of Enforcement and Investigations at the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.

“When cannabis products are sold outside the licensed market, consumers cannot rely on the testing, labeling and safety standards required under New York’s regulations. This operation demonstrates the importance of coordination between state and local partners in removing potentially unsafe products from circulation, holding illegal operators accountable and protecting the integrity of New York’s legal cannabis market.”

According to the Sheriff's Office, this following list consists of things that are illegal:

  • It is illegal to sell cannabis products without a license approved by OCM.
  • It is illegal to sell cannabis products in New York State that has not been grown, manufactured, and tested in the State.
  • It is illegal to remove a padlock from an illicit cannabis storefront.
  • It is illegal to allow tenants to sell cannabis products in a storefront not licensed by OCM.
  • It is illegal to cross state lines with cannabis, including medical cannabis.
  • It is illegal to sell or offer to sell adult-use cannabis products to anybody under 21 years of age. It is illegal to trade, barter, or “gift” cannabis to someone in exchange for something else. This includes “gifting” cannabis while selling something else (like a t-shirt or a sticker).
  • It is illegal to drive under the influence of cannabis. Cannabis consumption can slow motor coordination and other skills needed to drive safely. It is also illegal for passengers to consume cannabis in a vehicle. If you drive under the influence of cannabis, you can be charged with a DUI.
  • It is illegal to grow or smoke cannabis in any federally funded or recognized public housing facility. Growing cannabis, even for medical purposes, in public housing could result in your loss of housing support.
