
Over 10,000 tickets were issued statewide by the New York State Police and other law enforcement agencies during the annual Labor Day Weekend enforcement blitz.
232 people were arrested for drunken and/or impaired driving during the campaign, which ran from August 30 to September 2, the State Police said.
Locally in the Troop D Region, 29 people were arrested for DWI; 275 were caught speeding; 15 were charged for distracted driving; 33 were issued seat-belt violations and 9 tickets were issued to people who failed to adhere to New York’s ‘Move Over’ law.
Over 3,700 speeding tickets were issued across the state.
During last year’s Labor Day weekend enforcement campaign, the State Police issued 8,830 total tickets and arrested 157 people for DWI.
