ROME- A pair of city residents are accused of endangering the welfare of a child after authorities began investigating a child abuse case from early June.

Authorities say this investigation revolves around a 2-year-old toddler, whose father is reportedly Swisloski Jr.

It is reported that Swisloski Jr. and Gonzalez had custody of the toddler between Friday, June 6 and Monday, June 9. When the child was returned to his biological mother that Monday, it is reported by police that he was found to have extensive injuries to his face, leg, head and throat, that were apparently not present the previous Friday when he left her care.

The Child Advocacy Center was initially notified about this incident by the Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY.

Further investigation suggested that that the injuries suffered by the 2-year-old, were determined to be consistent with child abuse, specifically injuries to the inside of his throat, which were deemed to be potentially life threatening.

As of press time, Swisloski Jr., and Gonzalez were released on their own recognizance and their proceedings were adjourned pending further adjudication.

An Order of Protection has been issued on behalf of the victim and services have been offered to the child through the Child Advocacy Center.
