WOODHULL LAKE- Authorities in the Western Adirondacks say a person was found dead in a lake over the weekend.

Members from the Town of Webb Police Department have identified the victim as Walter J. Kaczor, 71, of Remsen, NY.

As of this report, Chief of Police Ron Johnston says the case is being investigated as an accidental death/drowning.

It was at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday when members of Webb Police, Old Forge Fire & Ambulance and New York State Forest Rangers all responded to reports of a body found in the waters of Woodhull Lake in the area of the Adirondack League Club.

Kaczor reportedly owned a water-access only camp in the area and was witnessed fishing from his dock hours before he was found.

It’s determined by police that he had snagged a log and accidently fell into the water while trying to free his lure.

Authorities described Kaczor suffering symptoms from Parkinson’s Disease, along with mobility issues.

An official autopsy will be conducted to determine a cause of death, but Kaczor was officially pronounced deceased by Herkimer County Coroner – Danforth Rivet.
