LOWVILLE- Men and women first responders are in high demand all over New York State and Lewis County has unveiled a plan to hopefully increase the number of volunteers needed for coverage.
“There’s no guarantee today that an EMT’s actually going to be able to show up at your house based on the lack of providers,” Josh Levesque told reporters from WWNY-TV.
He serves as Chief of Operations for Lewis County Search & Rescue.
To bolster support for this measure, the Board of Legislators propose providing over $300,000 to help such agencies recruit and gain more of a volunteer base.
$60,000 of that would reportedly be set aside to help jumpstart a two-year EMS program for high school juniors and seniors attending BOCES.
The remaining funds would then be used as a onetime payment between 8 total EMS agencies.
Stay tuned, we plan to air more on this soon.
