Poland resident charged in town of Newport domestic incident, Troopers say

NEWPORT- A local resident from Herkimer County is faced with a pair of charges, including a felony, stemming from a reported domestic dispute over the weekend.

Ricky L. Carnright, 40, of Poland, NY was arrested Saturday morning by the New York State Police (Herkimer).

Carnright is formally charged with one felony count of criminally possessing a weapon in the third-degree and one misdemeanor count of menacing in the second-degree (w/a weapon).

According to Troopers, the arrest stems from an alleged town of Newport domestic incident, which was reported to authorities earlier that morning.

At press time, police said that Carnright’s arrest status was listed as held (no bail).

There were no further details provided.
