COPENHAGEN- A domestic incident this week in Lewis County has resulted in numerous accusations, including felony offenses, filed against a local man, according to police.
Chad M. Gaffney, 40, of Copenhagen, NY was arrested Wednesday by the Sheriff’s Office. He is officially charged with felony counts of unlawful imprisonment in the first-degree and strangulation in the second-degree, along with misdemeanor counts of assault in the third-degree and criminal mischief in the fourth-degree.
It was shortly before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday when Deputies received alerts of a physical domestic in the village of Copenhagen, NY.
When deputies arrived, they learned that Gaffney had fled the scene, however; was located a short while later at another address within the village.
Further investigation alleges that Gaffney held his own wife inside their apartment and refused allowing her to leave for three-days.
Furthermore, it’s reported during that time that Gaffney had strangled her numerous times and prevented her from calling 9-1-1.
He was processed at the Public Safety Building and following an arraignment via Diana Town CAP Court, Gaffney was held, without bail.
There were no further details provided by authorities.
