Local woman accused of stealing nearly $1,000 cash jailed and faced with felony charges, Deputies say

LEYDEN- A local woman from Southern Lewis County is faced with numerous felony charges for allegedly stealing nearly one-thousand dollars in cash, authorities are reporting.

Brittney A. Kirk, 36, of Port Leyden, NY was arrested last Thursday by the Sheriff’s Office. She is officially charged with felony counts of burglary in the second-degree; grand larceny in the fourth-degree and criminal mischief in the third-degree.

It was shortly before 7:00 a.m. on July 12 when Deputies were called out to an address (7109) on the Walker Road, town of Leyden, to investigate a burglary complaint.

Investigation, including surveillance footage, soon determined that Kirk broke the rear door, entered and stole nearly $1,000 in cash.

Deputies also reported damage to another door and numerous windows.

Following her processing at the Public Safety Building, Kirk was arraigned in West Turin Town CAP Court and then jailed on $10,000 bail.
