ROME- A city resident is accused of brandishing a knife, threatening and disrupting people this week at a local establishment.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Arthur John, 38, was arrested shortly before 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. John is formally charged with one felony count of criminally possessing a weapon in the third-degree and one misdemeanor count of menacing in the second-degree.

Sheriff’s Deputies say these charges stem from a complaint earlier that evening at the Turin Road Dollar General.

Investigation determined that John was allegedly acting erratically within the store, making customers and store employees uncomfortable. Police say that John went as far to randomly confront someone and even brandished a large knife.

However, following a brief verbal argument, John fled the scene before being taken into custody a while later.

Additionally, John was found to have three separate warrants, including one from the New York State Police and the other two from Watertown City Police.

At press time, police said that John was held, without bail, pending further court proceedings.
