
LOWVILLE- A home is a total loss in the wake of an early Wednesday fire. It happened shortly before 6:00 a.m. at 6953 Wetmore Road, town of Watson.
Lowville Fire Department was the primary responder. Mutual aid was provided thanks to Glenfield and New Bremen Fire Departments. Firefighters successfully knocked the flames out within 20-minutes, however; overhaul operations took another 2-hours.
Due to the fire spread, the roof of the home collapsed. The property is owned by George Rauch. The home was not insured.
According to Lowville Fire Chief Joe Austin, a malfunctioning propane heater caused this blaze to spark.
There were no injuries reported.
Lowville Fire Auxiliary, National Grid and the American Red Cross all assisted.
