WATERTOWN- Following its original installment, the third-year of having a chili crawl for North Country Chili Cook Off will come to a close Wednesday, February 22.

The idea was pitched and enacted to keep this traditional Volunteer Transportation Center fundraiser going after COVID came along and hindered in-person events and large gatherings.

The chili crawl had enough success to keep it around as a permanent addition to the cook off. As the crawl format nears its close this week, officials are reminding the 24th cook off is finally aimed to return to its home base - the Dulles State Office Building, 317 Washington St, Watertown, NY.

“We are excited for the cook-off’s return in this format that pairs what we’ve done over the past two years with our local restaurants and our traditional in-person event,” said Jeremiah S. Papineau, Director of Communications and Foundation Director for the VTC.

“We really feel it will be the best of both worlds.”

The participating team with the highest amount raised will receive special recognition. There is also a prize for People’s Choice. Winners of both awards will be recognized at the in-person event at the Dulles State Office Building on Feb. 25.

The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission will be $6 for adults and $2 for children 12 years and younger. A family pass admission will be available for $15.
