ALBANY, NY- If you’re looking for a new career and have a love for the great outdoors, the New York State DEC is hiring – specifically Forest Rangers.

The deadline to take the next civil service exam to become a State Forest Ranger is Wednesday, August 3. The exam will be issued September 17 and you can find more information by visiting the DEC’s website.

If a person needs a Forest Ranger, whether it's for a search and rescue, to report a wildfire, or to report illegal activity on state lands and easements, they should call 833-NYS-RANGERS. If a person needs urgent assistance, they can call 911.
