LOWVILLE- The race between Democratic Incumbent District Attorney for Lewis County, Leanne Moser, and her Republican challenger, Jeffery Tompkins, is a nail-biter.

As of Wednesday, Lewis County Board of Elections Office told reporters from WWNY-TV that over 100 outstanding absentee ballots remain, along with another 25 affidavits.

Data suggests that Tompkins was ahead of Moser by nearly 50 votes as of Wednesday.

Moser has been Lewis County’s District Attorney for 16-years, with each term lasting four-years. 2023 marks the fifth election cycle for Moser and the DA position.

Officials say it could be as late as next week for when this race is officially decided.
