LEWIS COUNTY- A short-term agreement was reached in court this week regarding the bank accounts associated with the village of Copenhagen, NY and its former fire department.

According to the latest developments from WWNY-TV, attorneys for both the village and the dissolved fire department agreed to unfreeze the department’s bank accounts – all but one – with no activity from that account, unless it is court approved.

Over the winter, a judge determined to freeze all but two department bank accounts.

Also included with this latest agreement is the ability for the former department to retain custody of their vehicles and use them exclusively for maintenance, all while providing notice to the village until ownership is finally settled.
