ONEIDA COUNTY- The fiancé of a convicted town of Lee, NY sex abuser is now charged with endangering the welfare of a child for knowing what was going on, yet allegedly failed to do anything about it.
Amanda Lewis, 31, the fiancé of Michael Provost, 35, was arrested at her place of employment Wednesday by the Sheriff’s Office. She is officially charged with three misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
While investigating the Provost case, police found that Lewis, who also is from the town of Lee, was made aware of the abuse from the victims themselves.
Yet, police say she failed to intervene, thus resulting in continued abuse of the children
Provost was convicted last month for seven counts of predatory sexual assault and sex abuse in the first-degree, along with endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arrested last fall. His sentencing is aimed for mid-June, where Provost is expected to receive life behind bars.
Lewis was processed, arraigned and then released on her own recognizance.
The Child Advocacy Center is currently providing services to the victims.
