ALBANY- $1-billion has been included into the proposed 2024 Fiscal Year State Budget to improve mental health care for New Yorkers.
Governor Kathy Hochul outlined the plan last week. “Mental health will continue to be front and center because that is the core of wellness for our people that they have the services they need if they’re falling through the cracks,” she said.
“Compassionate care, wraparound services, a place to stay and heal. And that, from this day forward, it’ll be a priority of the State of New York because that’s what our people deserve.”
Plan highlights include thousands of new residential units for New Yorkers struggling with mental illness.
In addition, another $10-million will go towards expanding school-based mental health services.
