LOWVILLE- A land swap agreement that has been reached between Lewis County and Jefferson BOCES is now aimed to relocate the Public Health Office.
This update is according to the latest from WWNY-TV.
Currently, Public Health is run out of the basement level of Lewis County Health System, but the transformation is expected to occur sometime in June, officials say.
Once the move is complete, Lewis County Public Health will be operating out of the Boak Center, located in the village of Lowville, NY.
The Boak Center is a BOCES owned building, but in exchange for that facility and a price tag just north of $1-million, BOCES will subsequently have full reign of Lewis County’s Education Center via a long-term lease.
County Manager Timothy Hunt told reporters that this move will result in benefits for both the county and the hospital.
