
ONEIDA COUNTY- Residents in the town of Western have taken to showing their displeasure over their latest property reassessments.
This development is according to the latest from WKTV.
According to David Schallenberg, who spoke with reporters; his property value increased by four-times.
A similar claim was shared by Leona Scott. “My taxes are going to go when this is applied in 2024, from $2,192 to $6,292 for less than an acre of land,” she told reporters. “We just can’t afford it. It’s unreasonable.”
There were other residents who spoke up with like claims.
It’s reported that capital direct based GAR Associates performed these latest town assessments. Some property values dropped, while others increased.
Furthermore, Schallenberg claims there have been no clear answers from any of the latest town board meetings.
Reporters did reach out to Town Supervisor Diane Butler and assessor Steve Hunter for interviews and there have been no additional updates as of this report.
