Resident from town of Western charged with assault, Troopers say

WESTERN- A local resident from Oneida County is faced with an assault charge, which stems from an alleged incident this week, authorities say.

Robert J. Karsten, 64, of Western, NY was arrested early Friday by the New York State Police (Sylvan Beach). Karsten is formally charged with one misdemeanor count of assault in the third-degree (w/intent to cause physical injury).

According to Troopers, the arrest stems from an assault complaint, which was filed Thursday afternoon in the town of Western.

At press time, police said that Karsten was issued with an appearance ticket.

There were no further details provided.
