LOWVILLE- A structure fire was contained last weekend in a residential trailer.

It happened during the very late evening hours of Saturday, December 13 at 5408 Evergreen Lane. The structure is owned by Jose and Jennifer Ferrei and the home was insured.

Lowville Fire Department responded shortly after 11:15 p.m. and confirmed a working structure fire. However, thanks to such a swift response, firefighters managed to douse the flames within minutes and keep the flames contained to the bedroom.

Smoke damage was reported throughout the rest of the structure and a few broken windows.

Though there were no human injuries reported, Lowville Fire Chief says the family lost two pet birds.

The cause of this fire was deemed to be electrical in nature. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.

Members from Lowville Village Police, Search & Rescue and National Grid all assisted.
