Rome Man Dies following a Weekend A.T.V. Accident in the Town of Lewis

TOWN OF LEWIS-Lewis County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a fatal A.T.V. crash that occurred on the Goodhines Road in the Town of Lewis on Saturday, August 20. Deputies said 45 year old Joseph M. Royce, of Rome, was operating his 2008 Artic Cat four wheeler south on the Goodhines Road when the A.T.V. gradually veered off the dirt, gravel road on a level straightaway, impacting several trees and overturning. Royce was ejected from the A.T.V. and sustained serious injuries. He died of his injuries moments after being transported via West Leyden Ambulance. New York State Police assisted at the scene.
