Two Injured in Town of Boonville Motor Vehicle Accident

TOWN OF BOONVILLE-Two people were injured in a two-car motor vehicle accident on North Steuben Road in the Town of Boonville Wednesday afternoon. Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol said when deputies arrived at the scene of the accident, they determined that 75 year old June Wellman of Forestport, had been operating a Grey 2017 Honda Accord on Buckhill Road. Wellman reportedly attempted to make a left hand turn onto North Stuben Road from a stop sign Her vehicle then struck a Black GMC Suburban traveling South bound on North Steuben Rd operated by 29 year old Whitney Bourgeois, also of Forestport. The Bourgeois vehicle was hit in the rear end causing it to over-turn and sustain heavy damage.  Bourgeois suffered from a laceration above her right eye and was transported by Star ambulance to St. Elizabeths Hospital for further evaluation.  Wellman suffered abrasions to her right hand.  Wellman was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way when entering or crossing a roadway. She will answer the charge in the Town of Boonville Court at a later date. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office were assisted on scene by the Westernville Fire Department, and Star Ambulance.
