Rome man who crashed into telephone pole arrested, charged with felony DWI and several traffic violations

WESTMORELAND- A Rome, NY man is charged with felony DWI after crashing into a telephone pole this week in Oneida County.

It was sometime shortly before 8:20 p.m. Wednesday when emergency responders were called out to reports of a one vehicle wreck on the Bartlett Road, town of Westmoreland.

According to an investigation via the Sheriff’s Office, John Molnar, 27, has been formally charged with felony DWI, along with one traffic misdemeanor and several other traffic violations.

When police arrived on scene, Molnar had allegedly fled from the wreck on foot.

However, Deputies managed to locate him a short time later and while asking questions, police said they suspected impairment.

After processing, authorities said that Molnar was held at the County Jail, pending an arraignment in CAP Court.

Westmoreland Fire Department and National Grid both assisted.
